Bought as a foal and then schooled by his owner Pierre Cimolai, Derby joined, in the course of his seventh year, the stables of the Brazilian rider Yuri Mansur. Ridden successively by the latter and his rider ,Tom Schewe, it is under the saddle of Thibault Philippaerts that he has just started hos season as an 8-year old. They were in fact placed in their first event run together. Derby has a maternal lineage that has already produced two big names in our sport: Dollar de la Pierre, World Champion in 2002, and Orient Express, double silver medalist at the World Equestrian Games in Caen.
